Reverend Pamela Ashanti-Griggs

Pastor Pamela Ashanti GriggsReverend Pamela Ashanti-Griggs is a native Marylander who was educated in the Dorchester County School System, on the Eastern Shore.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Salisbury University, an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Management from the Community College of the Air Force, and a Master of Business Administration from Wilmington University.  Most recently, she earned a Master of Divinity Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Regent University, in May 2019.

Rev. Ashanti-Griggs is a 31-year federal government employee who currently works as a Supervisory Management and Program Analyst for the Department of Homeland Security.  She served in the Air Force Reserve for 20 years in both the enlisted and officer ranks, retiring as a Captain.

For almost 21 years, Rev. Ashanti-Griggs served as a member of New Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church of Waldorf, Maryland.  In April 2013, she accepted her call to ministry under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Derrick N. Brown. During her time at New Hope, she served as a Bible Study and Church School teacher; WMS President; Praise and Worship leader and choir member; and Health and Wellness Ministry Lead. On April 22, 2016, at the Washington Annual Conference of the Second Episcopal District, Rev. Ashanti-Griggs was ordained an Itinerant Deacon of the AME Church by Bishop William P. DeVeaux, and on March 29, 2019, she was ordained an Itinerant Elder by Bishop James Levert Davis.  She received her first pastoral appointment to Stevenson AME Church at the 205th Session of the Baltimore Annual Conference on April 13, 2021.

In 1998, she married Raymond Griggs, with whom she is blessed to parent two children, Adara and Jaryn.  Rev. Ashanti-Griggs has a passion for health and wellness, and community service. She is a Diamond Life member of the Fort Washington Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a life member of the Reserve Officers Association.

She strives daily to live by Galatians 6:9: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
